Reckless
On a recent Saturday night, I was in a prayer meeting with young men from my local youth group. After praying for a while, we took a few moments to discuss what we were all feeling. We unanimously agreed that we were felt God wanted us to commit ourselves, our dreams, and our desires to Him before we could see what He had in store for us. We threw around a few verses like Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” It was there that I had an epiphany about surrender, or maybe just a rediscovery.
So often I come to the altar wanting to give my all to God… but I also desire to know what the future has in store for me. I want to have the security of knowing I’m in God’s will and knowledge of what will happen in the future. While it’s great to know exactly what is in store for you down the road, I realized that knowing what’s in store doesn’t make me surrender my life to what God wants. That’s not seeking Him first. The truth about my feelings is that I want to take a look into my future without surrendering my life to God — I choose to wait until he reveals the things in my future that I want to know about before I’ll commit to Him.
That isn’t how He intended it at all! We are to throw ourselves into whatever he has for us with an almost reckless abandon, not caring what becomes of us, so that we can become all that He has for us to be, whether or not it’s revealed to us at this moment. We must become willing to submit His process for our lives whether He shows it to us or not.
Imagine that you’re a young child and that God is your father, taking you on a vacation. You’re excited because He’s told you that you’re going to another state and the two of you will be driving there. While you’re on your journey there, however, what are you doing? You are in the car with Dad, having a splendid time, but what are you doing? Since you don’t have a driver’s license, much less a road map, you’re left trusting that He knows where He’s taking you. You must accept that He knows the way and He has the best route in mind for you.
We know that we cannot successfully guide ourselves through the roads of life and make every turn correctly. We must rely on our heavenly father. We are mere children in the scope of eternity, in need of a Father to guide us and make sure we get to our destination safely. We can’t control where he brings us: we just have to submit to the ride ahead and hopefully enjoy it.
I want to surrender to God’s process for my life without doing it for a look into the future. My prayer is that you will do the same.

It’s ALL about the “S” word. When the Spirit is in operation all is well.
Job 33:13 Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account any of his matters. This is God’s dealings with men. However: Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
my fav( Proverbs 3 5&6 ) a life long commitment ! As His is to us, our should be to Him
Complete surrender. That’s such an awesome concept. The cool thing about surrender is that even though sometimes it’s hard to give up our control, once you know God is in the front seat–that’s one less thing for you to worry about. God’s in control, and even though life gives us lemons sometimes, if God’s in control–why is there a problem? He’ll take care of everything! You can trust that where ever he’s taking you, He’ll give you what you need to be obediant. I love this article!
You summarized Christianity in one sentence: “We are to throw ourselves into whatever he has for us with an almost reckless abandon, not caring what becomes of us, so that we can become all that He has for us to be, whether or not it’s revealed to us at this moment.” I’m trying to remember that we’re on vacation! Thanks for reminding me.
