Jerusalem Worship

On a Saturday night a group of us was gathered in Jesus’ name for a prayer meeting. As we all prayed to get in sync with God and His will I was sitting on the steps in the sanctuary praying to God when he took me to Jerusalem. The Lord brought me to Jerusalem in its late night hours, when the streets were deserted and everyone was in their homes. The streets were empty, a few stars were dotted the sky, and only the glow of the moon was present on the city and its buildings. As the Lord showed me around the quiet city in the moonlight, I felt the unmistakable holy presence of the Lord in that city. I have never been there physically, but I knew from the presence that Jerusalem was God’s Holy city and out of every place on this earth, God has chosen that city as his own. As He showed me around I felt the prayers that went up from that city, as the prayers rose the lord kept telling me “Jerusalem Worship.”

Jerusalem of Gold

The Lord brought me to a building in the quiet night and showed me someone on the second floor of a building in their home. There was no furniture, there was no TV, there were no luxury items. There was only a lantern that dimly lit the house and a man on his knees by the window praying to his God, the God of Jerusalem. This man prayed like I have never seen anyone pray before. The prayers from that city, along with the man I saw, were straight from the heart, powerful and potent. It was as if the people extended themselves and everything they were to God via prayer. The Lord again told me “Jerusalem Worship.” The way I would relate it is that they seemed to be to God what the smell of two dozen freshly picked roses found on the kitchen table by a wife would be: satisfying and very pleasant. The people worshiped God for who He is, not what they had. He was worshiped according to who He was, not how He blessed. The people were poor and owned little, but when it came to prayers they were exceedingly rich.

We read the stories of the bible but don’t fully become impacted by the reality of the situations, but now I can relate to what it was like for Ezekiel to be brought to the boneyard. Was it just a vision, or was I actually in Jerusalem at that time of the night? I don’t know, but I do know what kind of worship satisfies the Lord now, and giving him any less would be an insult – if not to God, then definitely to me. I can’t worship Him because I “have to,” I can’t worship Him because it’s the right thing to do or because He just blessed me. As scripture puts it, He is great and greatly to be praised. I am now a child of God. I talk to daily the one who set the foundations of the earth, the only one who can erase sins, the one who can cause life threatening illnesses to instantaneously disappear. Why shouldn’t I give Him the worship He so rightfully deserves? Why shouldn’t I give Him this Jerusalem worship? Why should we give him any less than He deserves when He gives us so much more than we deserve? He deserves Jerusalem worship.

  1. Thank you for sharing your revelation with us all. It does appear for all of us to know that we must worship Him because of who He is and not just what He does for us. Ultimately He came to show us the plan of salvation, everything else here could be called just a “perk”. For one day, every knee shall bow and confess that He is Lord. This is a great reminder to make Him Lord today.

I love the whole heartedness of your words & prayer. I love to let anybody who will listen to me know that Worship, prayer or praise is reuniting me to the One who created me. Keep calling on your Abba Father, because no doubt, you are a child of God!

Great experience. There are definitely plenty of Bible passages that confirm your point. God is after our whole-hearted relationship. Strangely enough, it sounds easy but it seems so difficult for most of us. Thanks for whetting our appetites.
