"I forget that I can keep my attention upon God through the repetitive aspects of the day."

That's a powerful truth to realize -- just because what I'm doing is uninspiring, I don't have to be uninspired. Maybe my workplace is drab and cheerless, but I can still be genuinely happy if my focus is in the right place.

When I worked in the cardboard factory, my job was tedious and the machines broke down all the time. Nothing in the plant was worth getting excited about except quitting time. What's a poor factory worker to do?

Well, first of all I decided not to let the problems with the machines get to me. I started to enjoy fixing them instead. Next, I kept my area clean all the time. That was the cleanest section of conveyor belt anywhere in the factory. Finally, I sang Phillips, Craig, and Dean songs all day long (those were the only CDs I had back then!), which also explains why I know them all by heart. I had to focus on what was good just so that I could still see it.
